MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS ARTICLE.
I’m a huge fan of Orange is the New Black. I’ve watch, then re-watched, all the episodes a number of times. So of course when new images from Season 4 of Orange is the New Black started floating around the internet I was gagging with enthusiasm.
Of course the big nugget of awesomeness is the news that the show was recently renewed for three more years, with Kohan at the helm as the executive producer and showrunner for all the seasons.
We’ll kick things off with this intense image of Piper being held down by Blanca. I’m not 100% sure on what’s going on here (some sort of prison revenge?) but some people are speculating that it has something to do with the cell phone that Blanca originally was using to communicate with “El Diablo,” which was later used by Piper to funnel funds for her secret used-panty ring.
Next, the foxy Ms. Vause (played by Laura Prepon) looking alive and well. Wait, what?! Seriously, how did she get out of the shed? Did Whitehill (Lori Petty) get the drop on Balik’s goon? So many questions!
Here’s a two for one. For those of you who’ve been following along. Last season, the ladies of Litchfield were closely following the trial of Judy King (played by Blair Brown). And low and behold, the celebrity chef will be doing her time in the comfort of our favorite prison. Couple things we want to point out:
Anyone else curious why/how Red and Gloria ended up getting back on the same page after Gloria quit last season?
Anyone else remember how in season one, when Piper dared to call out Red’s cooking which resulted in her being starved out? Now, granted since Litchfield has moved to large bags of pre made garbage but will the new kid in town cause a new type of tilt with Red?
This one is especially interesting. Here we see the Ghetto is getting some new members and some bunk beds to facilitate the extra bodies. Look in the far left, we see a woman who’s wearing a headscarf. Since Litchfield is pretty strict about the dress code I have fair reason to believe that it’s for religious reasons. Now, Black Cindy (who recently converted to Judaism) being paired with someone who is possibly Muslim is of course no guarantee that things will be dramatic. But if things do take that turn, I’m curious to see how it’s handled. Orange is the New Black has done an AMAZING job of touching on sensitive subjects. So that being said, I’d be curious to see how they would tackle that particular subject.
And finally, we have this rather heart breaking image of Sophia (Laverne Cox) held up in “Security Housing” after her brutal beating from Season 3. Obvious questions here, how is she holding up? Is she getting her proper medications? What effect will the move to different housing have on her troubled son? Seems like she’s losing everything about herself and I’m curious to see what this might result in for her character.
Orange Is the New Black season four will premiere on Netflix on Friday, June 17th. And remember, ladies. Trust no B*tch!
