Voltron: Legendary Defender Drops a New Season 3 Trailer

Fresh out of San Diego Comic-Con, Netflix just dropped a VERY somber trailer for Voltron Season 3.

Spoilers Ahoy!

If you haven’t watched the (absolutely FANTASTIC) Voltron: Legendary Defender on Netflix, be aware there are spoilers. But if you haven’t watched it, go ahead and do that real quick. It’s okay, I’ll wait.

“And I’ll form the- Oh Wait.”

We last left our Paladins celebrating a very difficult victory. After Shiro, the Paladin of the Black Lion wrangled control of the Bayard from Zarkon (the now evil, original Black Lion Paladin), they finally (seemingly) defeated Zarkon (thanks to the use of a certain Blazing Sword). However Shiro, the Paladin of the Black Lion is now M.I.A.

The newest Trailer for Season 3 is set to a hauntingly beautiful song, and starts with the Paladins standing around the de-powered Black Lion. Allura tells the Paladins that “It may be difficult for us all to accept, but it is time for us to think about finding a new pilot for the Black Lion.” The rest of the trailer shows some various shots including some of our new villain, Prince Lotor. The trailer ends with the Black Lion coming to life.

The biggest question is just *who* is piloting the Black Lion? Is Shiro back (and if he’s not, then where is he?) Did Allura take the reigns? Will we see a more traditional team akin to that of the original 1984 show where Keith pilots the Black Lion, and Allura another (in the original US Dub Allura replaced the Shiro equivalent, Sven when he could no longer pilot the Blue Lion [currently Lance, who was originally in the Red. Whew!])

Season 3’s short 7-episode season drops onto Netflix on August 4th. Season 4 (maybe the back half of the original Season 3?) will roar into Netflix this October (the faster they can get me more Voltron, the happier I am!)  Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix, and are waiting for you to form Bingetron.

JC grew up in a small town, and quickly became the resident geek, spewing off random facts about movies, comics and Power Rangers to whoever would listen. Currently residing in Southern Oregon, JC still spends his days doing much of the same (though he has disposable income to buy cosplays and go to conventions). JC recently started collecting Pop Vinyls and his friends and family, concerned at the immovable wall of them, are currently planning an intervention.
