Ever since we’ve been told that they are extending the cancellation of the Apocalypse, we have been hungry for details. As hungry as a kaiju is for nosey scientists. Continue reading
The King is Back, baby. Bruce Campbell returns to his most famous role this fall in Ash vs Evil Dead on Starz, and we’ve got the first trailer. It’s pretty darned awesome, dealing with a new breed of kids who have to tag along with the misguided older Ash to survive a new Deadite invasion. And it’s funny, in a way that reminds me of nothing more than Evil Dead 2. After the taking-itself-way-too-seriously relaunch of Evil Dead in cinemas last year, this is exactly the sort of continuation we were looking for. Check out the trailer after the jump, and let us know what you think in the comments. Continue reading

See Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill knock the socks off of the Hall H crowd, watch the new cast learn what they’re in for for the first time, and see JJ Abrams invite literally every person in the room to an exclusive Star Wars concert after the show. Go check it out after the jump, and watch the official behind the scenes video they released, too. If it doesn’t bring tears to your eyes, something may be wrong with your tearducts. Continue reading
The Shannara Chronicles, a series of fantasy books by Terry Brooks, have long had a massive following amongst fantasy fans. Now MTV is bringing the post-apocalyptic-meets-Lord-of-the-Rings series to life, in a series from Jon Favreau and the creators of Smallville. And while it certainly looks like it’s aimed at a younger market, it also looks really damned cool. Check it out after the jump. Continue reading
Its that time of year when rumors run rampant on the wind. Yup its SDCC season again and already we geeks are “hearing of wars and rumors of wars” to borrow an apt turn of phrase from the book of Matthew. In this case , Westley Snipes has let slip that he has begun to talk to Marvel about returning as the sword and pistol wielding vampire slayer he portrayed in 3 films. Originally reported by CBR (comicbookresources.com) Snipes stated that has met with Marvel about the possibility of returing as Blade. While nothing is in the works, Snipes told Deadline that “The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things.” Lets not forget that Snipes more or less started the recent wave of marvel superhero films with Blade followed by X Men two years later. While nothing is concrete, I hope this turns out to be true. For all the camp, Snipes’ streetwise bad assery was fun to watch and I would like to do so again.
Deadline is reporting that DC’s creative director, Geoff Johns, is hard at work already on a script to the first standalone Batman film in the new DC Cinematic Universe, and will likely turn in a script by this summer for Ben Affleck to direct. Affleck would then move on to creating the film after his long-standing adaptation of Dennis Lehane novel Live by Night. This would place the film after Justice League, in the large section of solo films DC is planning to release after their big team up movie, in what we can only call a “reverse Marvel.” Of course, all of this likely still stands on the idea that Batman v Superman, and Justice League, are successful enough for Warner Bros to not throw their hands up in the air and try and reboot their universe again.
Affleck loves directing tales of dark, crime stories, which should be a decent fit for the caped crusader. And Johns has written some pretty good episodes of TV, although he’s never delivered on a full feature script before. The only odd thing about this is that Johns and Affleck’s styles don’t really mesh at all – Johns is a big, four color superhero guy, and Affleck is more of a quiet, dark, angry story guy. We’ll see if, working together, they can deliver a Batman film everyone is happy with, or if they’ll just be trying to ape Nolan as hard as they can.
Woke up late and then went immediately to the Game of Thrones experience across the street from the Omni hotel. I arrived around 10:45, not knowing it would be a full 4+ hours until I actually got into the exhibit proper. The exhibit is very fun, but less impressive at first glance due to the green screens and simple decoration at the entrance. Luckily the folks I was near to in line were friendly and I even handed out a few business cards – truly I could not have done the wait without my new friends and line buddies. Continue reading
If we’re all being honest here, we started throwing money at the screen the moment that Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion announced they wanted to do a show together. Thankfully, that was the whole point, and the crowndfunding campaign for Con Man became a gigantic success, pushing Alan’s original idea into something far, far bigger. Now, on the first day of Comic-con, he’s unleashed the first trailer for the show, which will be premiering exclusively on Vimeo on Demand. (It costs just $14 to preorder the whole thing right now.) And boy, does it look like all of our money was well spent. The cast includes Tudyk and Fillion, Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, Tricia Helfer, Gina Torres, Milo Ventimiglia, and so many more of your absolute favorite people. And it’s damned funny. We can’t wait for the full series to premiere on September 30th. Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and let us know what you think in the comments. Continue reading
Entertainment Weekly, gorgeous sexy people that they are, have released the first official photos from the movie Deadpool. And they look pretty darned good. As before, Deadpool looks completely right, although some of the rest of it looks – well, very Fox X-men. Which makes sense, as it’s being made by that same studio. Check out the full gallery, including some of Reynolds’ thoughts on the film, right after the jump! Continue reading
