We’re back with a new (meaning our second ever) Geekly Roundup!
If you haven’t already seen it, check out our new companion Geekly Roundup Podcast! This week, Mark, Mike, and Ben take on some of the news found in the Roundup, as well as the upcoming Marvel Netflix series, and some thoughts on how indie game development is changing the way games come to market.
This week we’ve got news about everything from No Man’s Sky to Pitch Perfect to the recent news about Maxis Emeryville — and yes, there’s even more Wil Wheaton. No Roundup is apparently complete without Wil Wheaton.
Greetings space-faring traveler. I bring good news, for our corporate overlords at Weyland-Yutani have decided to increase their Employee Happiness Coefficient, and have allowed the union of the Alien Franchise and Neill Blomkamp. That’s right, back on Earth, Blomkamp sent out the picture above on Instagram, with this caption:
Um…So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien.
Blomkamp stirred our hopes earlier this year by posting a great deal of concept art for an Alien movie he was developing on Instagram. When it turned out he was never officially working on the picture, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth – until it turned out, the pictures led to Blomkamp actually getting the gig.
The link is to a picture of an alien concept art (shown as the first picture above), adding to the legitimacy of earlier rumored Alien concept art featuring Ripley. Speaking of, while Fox and Blomkamp have reported to have closed their deal, no word yet if the rumored return of Sigourney Weaver to the role of Ripley has any actual validity. This reporter looks forward to seeing what Blomkamp’s scifi genius does to the Alien Franchise.
