THE PULL LIST – 4/5/18

Hello, Everyone and welcome to another edition of The Pull List, the apartment down the street of ideas. I’m your host Brian J. Patterson, and I’m back very excited to bring you two picks for this week. Why only two? Well, because I felt like the independent comics were really giving us the ole “one-two” punch this week, with a number one and number two of some comics that I really enjoyed. I hope you do too. As always…Enjoy!

Demi-God_01_AcvrDEMI-GOD #1

Publisher: IDW

Writer: Ron Marz, Artist: Andy Smith, Colorist: Michael Atiyeh, Letters: Steve Dutro

A young man discovers an enchanted item which reincarnates into him the powers of the demigod Hercules. Typical slacker Jason McAndros goes from not to hot in this 80’s coming of age wish fulfillment story at it’s most reliable. What I most enjoy about this story is that it embraces it’s ‘cheese factor’, making it into an authentically cute story. Go pick it up!

Power level: 7.5/10

Green Hornet 2GREEN HORNET #2

Publisher: Dynamite

Writer: Amy Chu, Artist: German Erramouspe, Colors: Brittany Pezzillo, Letters: Tom Napolitano, Cover: Mike McKone, Sean Chen, and Mohan

I will admit that there was some momentary apprehension about ripping the sex of Green Hornet. But the diversity continues in other ways. Additionally, I found layers of story unfolding as I kept reading the second issue, and I’m now on board for the ride. Go pick this up. It’s the beginning of something cool.
