The Power Rangers are Back in “The Order”

I might have just found the film I’m most excited about for next year, and it’s not even a Star Wars flick. Eighteen former Power Rangers cast and crew members are getting together to film the gritty action film The Order, and you can be a part of it. Check out the teaser trailer right now:

For those of us that grew up with watching guys like Austin St. John (Jason, the original Red Ranger, in the above trailer with the blond tips) and Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, the second black ranger and also the voice of Vash the Stampede) kick ass in spandex, this film looks like an absolute dream come true, even by low-budget action movie standards.

The script was written by Karan Ashley, the second Yellow Ranger, and David Fielding, who was the voice of Zordon on the show. It concerns a paramilitary organization (the titular Order), who are faced with a threat unlike anything they’ve ever seen before – an assault on the entire world.

So yes, the whole thing looks and sounds like every low budget action film that you find in the straight to DVD isle. But you know what? That’s fine. If these guys can raise the money to put on something even remotely decent, with a cast of the characters we grew up loving, it’ll be absolutely worth the price of admission.

Hell, the fact that Paul Schrier is playing the villain is probably worth the price of admission.

The film is currently raising money on Indiegogo. They’re asking for 250,000, with the real goal of making a million dollars to really make a high quality film. Rewards run the gamut from DVDs to an actual speaking role in the film, so get there while the good prizes are still available.

Here’s a gallery of the cast members so far:
