Michael Cera cast as Lego Robin

Scott Pilgrim Fight

Michael Cera is no stranger to comic-related films after his starring role in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but he’ll be returning to the silver screen in a heroic role…sort of.

In the wake of the wildly popular LEGO Movie, the upcoming spiritual sequel (or spin-off, depending how you look at it) LEGO Batman has cast Cera as its Robin, as reported by Hollywood Reporter.

Cera will play opposite the sublimely caricatured Batman, played by Will Arnett (the one time you’ll hear his comedically dark Batman called ‘sublime’), and the film features the return of much of the production talent from the LEGO Movie, including ambition supervisor Chris McKay.

LEGO Batman: The Movie is set to open in 2017, and was an easy choice with the combined success of the LEGO Batman video game franchise and Arnett’s memorable turn as the character.

What pop culture and DC references are you hoping to see show up in the movie?

Ben Lee
With a wide variety of interests ranging from baseball to theater and dance to technology to writing, Ben has given up on being good at any one thing and settled for being not half bad at a handful of things instead. He can usually be found cleaning up paperwork after a motley but wonderful crew of retail technicians; failing that, you can generally find him on the RP_OK Podcast at the Ace of Geeks, or on the San Francisco Giants-centric TortureCast. His Steam shame list is quickly growing legendary, and it's quite rare he's playing or watching anything made in the last five years.
