Who Will Jared Leto Play in Blade Runner?

Announced by Alcon Entertainment this afternoon,  adding to an already amazing list of actors, Jared Leto will be joining the sequel to the cult classic movie Blade Runner. Leto joins the ranks of Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James, and Dave Bautista. Plot details are non-existent other than a mention of it occurring several decades after the original film.

What is interesting is the director, Denis Villeneuve, known for Sicario, and the upcoming film Arrival.  I look forward to what Villeneuve will do with this material. While no details have been provided as to which specific role, most would speculate, given his features, that of a replicant model in line with Daryl Hannahs Pris. What has been stated is that he will be a “key role” for the production. I would speculate an interesting twist and suggest a him as a possible parallel to M. Sean Youngs character Rachael. I would further support Actress Mackenzie Davis will most likely be the one sporting the new Pris model. Dave Bautista, given his physical presence would surly be a combat model replicant. Overall the cast is shaping up to be very star heavy, but given the result of Letos previous movie Suicide Squad, it will take more than just start power to make this sequel a success.

The movie is slated for a October 6th 2017 release.

Scott was introduced to all things nerdy at an early age when he was more or less thrown into the deep end by his older brother who insisted on holding weekly Monty Python/Boardgame/RPG fests. Weekends were filled with pizza, Magic games, and lots of D&D 2nd Ed. He adapted quickly to his "unfortunate" situation and even learned to flourish under these conditions, quickly becoming an avid fan and expert on Star Wars, Stargate, and the likely THAC0 needed to connect his +3 rapier of staggering awesomeness with a Pit Lord's pet chihuahua (it was an odd game...). Scott still lives on the East Coast where he recently redecorated his study by removing 20 linear feet of Star Wars books. He spends his free time maintaining an online gaming community group and writing LARPs for DunDraCon. He hopes to one day rid the world of the Alien Menace with his crack XCOM squad assembled from family members and close friends.
