Escape to Other Worlds

I fully admit, this post started out way different. With the shocking news of last night’s election, I wrote something very, very angry that doesn’t really belong here. A lot of us are shaken, or scared, or hurt this morning, and we need time to process that before the real work can begin. Take the time today. Do some self care.

As geeks, we spend a lot of our time reading about other worlds. Places where the world is imperfect and broken, like Game of Thrones, and places where people are decent and work to help each other, like Star Trek. Whatever your geek loves are, call on those other worlds today. Take the time to journey and see what we could become, and what we must not become.

I’m not going to tell you how to feel today. I suspect that most of the people who read this site are in the camp that’s afraid of the future, but if you’re not, if you’re someone who supports the way the country is going, let’s talk and see if we can find some common ground. As always, The Ace of Geeks is a safe space, for everybody. I won’t tolerate bullying here, and if I see someone throwing punches in victory or defeat I will shut that down.

Let’s take a moment and remember the lessons of our heroes, like Captain Kirk and Luke Skywalker, and try and fight for a world where we can all be free. That fight is just beginning, now, and it’s going to be harder than ever. But we’re all geeks, and we’re all here for each other.

Escape to other worlds today. Take care of yourself.

Tomorrow, we start the real work.

In addition to being a successful film director and editor, he loves video games, movies, comic books, board games, and his wife and cat. He’s been friends with Jarys for over a decade now, and they started hosting a radio show together on college that became the genesis for the Ace of Geeks Podcast. When he realized he had so many talented friends who could write, the Podcast became an entertainment website, and here we are.
