Destiny’s next expansion leaked; promos show Lord Saladin

So remember that Destiny content drought, where there was no news from Bungie except “Something’s coming, we totes promise,” and the community got all angsty waiting for new stuff?

That’s not gonna happen again.

Thanks to some leaked promotional materials released on the Destiny subreddit and confirmed by Kotaku, we know that the next expanson of awesome amazeballs spacey fun shooty shooter will feature what appears to be our favorite Iron Lord, Saladin — he who runs the monthly Iron Banner, but does not call the action like Lord Shaxx (gotta wonder if he would be all “That is acceptable” when Shaxx is all “THIS IS AMAZING!”). He’s surrounded by wolves, he’s holding a gigantic flaming war axe and please tell me I can get one of those war axes because YES.

The expansion, called “Rise of Iron,” was confirmed by Kotaku’s Jason Schrier, who wrote that it will contain a new raid and be larger than “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves” put together. The likely release will be fall 2016.

The confirmation by Kotaku puts this in the realm of probably-gonna-happen, unlike that strange Rezzyl Azzir stuff that broke on Reddit in a nutshell, that claimed something was gonna happen on Sept. 20. Bungie shot that down in a recent weekly update and listed the sources for official “Destiny” news. We’ll likely see some official newshype about this in mid-June, around the time of E3.

And to think that, before a few hours ago, the biggest “Destiny” news to break was how Trials of Osiris and the upcoming Iron Banner have been canceled because of an ammo glitch! There was even some brilliant shade thrown at a certain other open-world shooter that likes to point fingers of shame at people who enjoy bugs and glitches:

“Rather than punish players for playing the game in a way we didn’t predict, we’ve been waging an investigation into our code.”

BOOM! A burn truly worthy of this animation.
