Blade Runner 2049 Teaser Trailer

This morning a teaser trailer for the much anticipated, long awaited Blade Runner sequel was released. The teaser doesn’t play around in its 1:46 run time. We are greeted with imagery associated with the sci-fi classic of Ridley Scotts 1982 Blade Runner. The music is heavily influenced by the former in its approach and execution.

Deckards Back!

The voice over starts with Harrison Ford reprising his character Rick Deckard. He speaks of his past job as a “Blade Runner” to Ryan Goslings yet to be named character. Deckards simplistic approach to retiring comes into question as Gosling informs that “Things where simpler then”. It cant be determined if this is a face off or the beginning of a professional partnership.

There is an exciting moment where we get equipment cameo in the form of Rick Deckards infamous side arm at the 1:17 mark.

Given the star power behind this project and combined with the number of theories of Rick Deckards character, it can be safe to say that Director Denis Villeneuve (of Arrival and Sicario fame) has some big expectations to fill. Seeing the title with Ford and Gosling headlining hints that Ford will be still playing a pivotal role in the upcoming film. Ford was successful in reprising his role as Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It can be safe to say his reprisal as Rick Deckard could be as equally as impressive.

Blade Runner 2049 is set to release 10/6/2017.

Scott was introduced to all things nerdy at an early age when he was more or less thrown into the deep end by his older brother who insisted on holding weekly Monty Python/Boardgame/RPG fests. Weekends were filled with pizza, Magic games, and lots of D&D 2nd Ed. He adapted quickly to his "unfortunate" situation and even learned to flourish under these conditions, quickly becoming an avid fan and expert on Star Wars, Stargate, and the likely THAC0 needed to connect his +3 rapier of staggering awesomeness with a Pit Lord's pet chihuahua (it was an odd game...). Scott still lives on the East Coast where he recently redecorated his study by removing 20 linear feet of Star Wars books. He spends his free time maintaining an online gaming community group and writing LARPs for DunDraCon. He hopes to one day rid the world of the Alien Menace with his crack XCOM squad assembled from family members and close friends.
