Ten years I have waited. Ten years since the last Battlefront II. This year at E3 we were finally presented with gameplay footage from Dice, and boy they did not disappoint. The scene opens on the battle of Hoth. The empire sends a battalion aided by an AT-AT walker to attack the Rebel base. We are presented with multiple points of view throughout the battle including Stormtroopers and Rebels alike, and we even get to see control from within vehicles! Suddenly the battle takes a turn for the worse when an innocent Rebel soldier gets Force choked. The iconic sound of Darth Vader’s respirator gave me chills. In response to this Sith Lord, the opposition summons their own hero: Luke Skywalker. The Jedi quickly dispatches three soldiers by Force pushing them out of the way. He then rushes to his opponent on the field, clashing lightsabers with his foe.
And with this our gameplay trailer is complete and I don’t know about you but I am even more excited now that I’ve seen the features of the game in action. We were given a look at how each faction fights, the weapons they possess, and the extra tools they bring to the battlefield. Not to mention we get to see how Heroes are handled, which to me seems a little more theatrical then previous entries. I didn’t however see any Tauntauns, much to my disappointment, but I guess we all have to make some sacrifices.
Battlefront is due to arrive on December 17th.
